Position Overview:
The Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life is seeking a motivated Graduate Assistant to support the Speak Up! Speak Out! K-12 project-based civic education program. The role involves content creation, teacher coordination, overseeing program implementation, and planning a statewide civic fair. The ideal candidate will have experience in education and program management, a passion for social studies and civic education, and a strong commitment to fostering democratic engagement in young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful educational initiatives that promote informed and engaged citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and expand the Speak Up! Speak Out! K-12 civic education program, including content creation, outreach, teacher coordination, implementation, and evaluation (35%).
• Lead coordination of the statewide civic fair, focusing on planning, communication, outreach, and evaluation (25%).
• Identify, propose, and execute new opportunities to advance K-12 educational initiatives (15%).
• Simplify educator participation to increase involvement and ease of curriculum integration (10%).
• Collaborate in securing external funding and maintaining fiscal sustainability for K-12 initiatives (10%).
• Contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director (5%).
  
  

Qualifications:

• Enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin.
• Prior experience in program management, education, or a related field.
• Familiarity with K-12 educational settings and practices.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
