Position Title: Civic Hub Learning Program Senior Manager (Civic Hub Learning Team)

Reports To: Director, Hub Support & Learning Group

Position Summary:
The Civic Hub Learning Program Senior Manager (hereinafter “Manager”) will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and management of the Better Together America (BTA) Learning Pipeline. This includes co-creating and curating curriculum, hosting virtual and in-person workshops, planning and facilitating learning cohorts, and ensuring effective knowledge sharing and peer support among hub builders. Since many of these learning opportunities will be novel, the Manager will be responsible for collaborating with team members and partners to stand them up and for ensuring their subsequent evolution.
At this time, the Manager will not be a direct supervisor of any staff, but will be responsible for facilitating the activities of the Civic Hub Learning Team. As a result, the Manager will play a key role in accelerating the growth, development, and effectiveness of Civic Hubs nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: Lead team of subject matter experts and facilitate multi-stakeholder engagements to curate and co-develop comprehensive learning materials, workshops, and resources for hub builder learning across all phases of the hub lifecycle.

• Workshop Coordination: Plan and coordinate virtual and in-person workshops, including overseeing logistics, scheduling, and participant communication.
• Learning Cohort Facilitation: Organize and facilitate virtual learning cohorts, ensuring active participation, knowledge sharing, and peer support.
• Knowledge Management: Coordinate with the Resource Center Curation Team, ensuring synergistic alignment between the Resource Center and the Learning Pipeline.
• Relationship Building: Foster trust-based relationships among learning community members and with BTA staff and partners.
• Evaluation and Reporting: Develop and implement evaluation tools (e.g., pre- and post-workshop surveys) in coordination with the Metrics/Evaluations Team to assess the effectiveness of learning programs and collect data.
• Communication: Communicate program updates, lessons learned, and resources to the Learning Community through various channels (e.g., newsletters, calls).
• Collaboration: Collaborate with other BTA teams and external partners to ensure alignment and effective support for hub builders.
• Stipend Management: Manage scholarships/microgrants for participants in workshops, learning cohorts, and data collection (if applicable).

Qualifications:

• At least 4 years of experience leading curriculum development, hosting and teaching training events/courses, and facilitating learning conversations/convenings.
• Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and methodologies. Ideal candidate has at least a bachelor's degree and/or certifications related to education or pedagogy.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills. Ideal candidate is able to leverage the talent, experience, and motivation of team members and partners to accomplish the mission in a nontraditional (network/distributed) leadership role.
• Proficiency with virtual collaboration tools and platforms (e.g., Zoom).
• Passion for civic engagement and democratic processes. Ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience working with or for nonpartisan democracy and/or civic health organization(s) or efforts, preferably at the local level.
• The ideal candidate is well-versed in civic hub concepts and processes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with data collection and evaluation is a plus.
• Flexibility to adjust program plans based on evolving needs and contextual changes.

Requirements:

• Duties will require ~60 hours per month. Over time, hours will increase in proportion to the number of civic hubs that participate in the Learning Program, likely culminating in full-time hours.
• Travel to in-person BTA Workshops will be required approximately twice per year. There may be opportunities to travel to other organizations’ conferences and learning events.
• Candidate must be able to attend the next Workshop, which will be in Denver from May 1-2, 2025.

Compensation:
The Manager will receive $2,000 per month initially. The intent is for compensation to increase as BTA achieves more sustainable funding.

To date, the number of Civic Hubs that BTA supports is scaling quickly and is anticipated to increase to 100 by the end of 2025 and 250 by the end of 2026.
