Engineering Manager (Tech & Democracy) - Protect Democracy (Apply by Mar 22nd!)

Protect Democracy seeks one or two Engineering Managers to scale work at the intersection of advanced technology and democracy, including leading the AI for Democracy Action Lab that builds tech tools and shapes law and policy to safeguard democracy in the AI era. The role involves directing technical strategy and architectural decisions, leading product development cycles from prototype to launch, managing and mentoring an engineering team, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and building AI-powered features and consumer-facing products to solve pressing democracy challenges. Candidates should have 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years of people management, proven ability leading and scaling high-performing teams, experience with prompt engineering and practical model selection, deep understanding of security best practices, and a passion for applying technology to strengthen democratic institutions.
