Democracy Fund seeks a General Counsel to lead legal affairs and strategy for the Foundation and its partner 501(c)(4) organization, Democracy Fund Voice, serving as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Leadership Team and member of the Executive Team. The role involves applying pragmatic risk tolerance to enable bold, compliant impact, serving as Secretary to both Boards, and managing enterprise risk, crisis response, and cross-functional decision-making across Legal, People/HR, Operations, Programs, and External Affairs. Candidates should have 10+ years of legal experience with philanthropic organizations and tax-exempt entities across 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) structures, seasoned in-house judgment, and practical exposure to government inquiries, congressional investigations, and litigation preparedness. Experience with private foundations, government service, or large mission-driven nonprofits is beneficial.
