Position Overview: States United Democracy Center seeks a Research Associate to support the organization's polling and public opinion research program under the direction of the Senior Researcher and Research Director. The role involves assisting in survey instrument design and survey experiments, cleaning and analyzing survey data using R/RStudio, preparing tables, charts, and written memos summarizing polling results, working with survey vendors on data delivery and quality checks, tracking relevant public opinion polling and academic research, maintaining internal polling documentation and reproducible research workflows, and providing research support for election protection projects. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Political Science or related field (ABD or comparable research experience considered), 3-5 years minimum experience with polling including academic work, strong quantitative research methods and survey design training, fluency in R/RStudio, and ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. The position requires approximately 15% travel.
