Position Overview:
Issue One is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Vice President of Citizen Engagement, directing the strategic growth and influence of both the Council for American Democracy (TCAD) and Citizens for American Democracy (CAD). This high-impact leadership role focuses on building cross-partisan coalitions, activating grass tops leaders, and expanding a national grassroots base through innovative digital engagement.
The ideal candidate will have experience in movement leadership, coalition-building, and grassroots mobilization. Working closely with Issue One’s CEO, COO, and TCAD Steering Committee, the VP will design long-term strategies for member and supporter engagement, manage high-stakes relationships with influential stakeholders, and ensure measurable impact across both elite and grassroots communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Movement Architecture & Strategic Leadership: Scale TCAD into a multi-hundred-member donor collective and CAD into a national grassroots presence. Lead strategic planning, engagement frameworks, and impact measurement.
• Grassroots Base-Building & Digital Engagement: Grow and activate the C4 grassroots email list, oversee digital campaigns, and implement innovative mobilization strategies.
• High-Stakes Member Relationship Management: Cultivate relationships with influential democracy champions and manage TCAD members’ engagement experience.
• Organizational Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with executive leadership, manage the Citizen Engagement team, and ensure alignment across programs.
• Operational Excellence & Team Leadership: Oversee communications, plan high-caliber events, and provide strategic updates on citizen engagement efforts.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Proven leadership in building or scaling large-scale movements or membership-based organizations.
• Experience managing relationships with high-influence individuals and advisory boards.
• Strategic thinker with strong project management, diplomatic, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate autonomously while aligning with broader organizational priorities.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in movement leadership, political or advocacy campaigns, or grassroots network development.
