Join people from across sectors and around the world at NCDD2027, working to strengthen dialogue and deliberation in our society. Together, we'll strengthen relationships, spark collaboration, and increase our collective capacity to address today's complex challenges.
Why We're Gathering
Dialogue and deliberation are the practices that help people build relationships, communicate across differences, make thoughtful decisions, solve complex problems, and work together on the issues that matter most. People across communities, sectors, and countries are advancing this work every day.
For more than two decades, NCDD has convened the people doing this work by creating spaces where relationships deepen, ideas cross-pollinate, and new collaborations emerge, strengthening both individual practice and our collective capacity.
In 2027, we're building on that legacy.
Rather than simply bringing people together to learn from one another, we're intentionally designing this gathering to strengthen the connective infrastructure that helps the broader ecosystem share knowledge, build partnerships, and increase its capacity for collaboration and collective action.
Because our greatest opportunity isn't only strengthening individual efforts. It's strengthening how those efforts connect.
When the people advancing this work are more connected, the relationships, knowledge, and innovations they create ripple outward. Ultimately, this strengthens our ability to respond to today's complex challenges and helps create more connected, resilient, and responsive communities.

Rooted in Place
|
Every place has its own relationships, history, and wisdom. That's why NCDD approaches each conference as a partnership with the local community rather than simply selecting a location.
We're thrilled to bring NCDD2027 to Chicago, a city with a rich history of civic leadership, community organizing, philanthropy, journalism, higher education, and public engagement. Rather than simply hosting the conference here, we're partnering with local practitioners, organizations, and leaders to help shape the experience. Together, we're working to ensure the conference reflects the strengths, perspectives, and innovations already thriving throughout the Chicago region. We look forward to continuing to partner with and learn alongside the people and communities who call Chicago home. |
