The Reflective Practice & SRI® International Certificate Program offers conflict resolution professionals a transformative pathway to continuous learning and professional mastery. Led by Dr. Tzofnat Peleg-Baker and Dr. Bryan Hanson, EdD, this seven-session virtual program running from January 28th through July 22nd, 2026, creates space for mediators, Ombuds, peace practitioners, dialogue professionals, and other third-party interveners to engage in systematic, collaborative reflection on their work. Read testimonials and find additional information about the Certificate Program and the SRI ® approach: Guided by Experienced Scholar-Practitioners Dr. Peleg-Baker brings extensive expertise as a scholar and applied social psychologist specializing in reflective practice frameworks that support human development, connection, and collaborative decision-making. Her work addresses implicit cultural and social-psychological barriers through dignity-based approaches that integrate multidisciplinary research. Her background spans facilitating intergroup dialogue in the Middle East, directing Israel's national Alternative Dispute Resolution strategy, training African government officials, and currently serving as a senior community housing mediator and founding member of a restorative justice program in Oregon. She has taught at institutions including Rutgers University's School of Business and facilitates monthly reflective peer learning groups for dialogue and conflict professionals worldwide. Dr. Hanson serves as Ombuds for the Graduate School at Virginia Tech and brings deep leadership experience in the conflict engagement field. As a Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner® and certified SRI® practitioner, he has found the SRI® framework instrumental in addressing the challenges inherent in helping others navigate conflict. His service to the field includes editing The Independent Voice, the International Ombuds Association's blog, serving as Board President of the Association for Conflict Resolution, and founding the Nebraska Mediation Association. The Power of Structured Reflection No matter how skilled professionals believe themselves to be, research consistently demonstrates that reflective practice serves as a cornerstone of expertise and improved outcomes. Yet in the demanding pace of conflict resolution work, practitioners rarely have structured opportunities to step back, examine their interventions, and learn from shared experience. This program addresses that critical gap by bringing together a cohort of no more than 15 professionals who commit to learning alongside one another over seven months.
The program centers on the SRI®—the Structured Reflection Intervention, a goal-oriented, pragmatic framework developed by Dr. Peleg-Baker. Through interactive sessions that apply reflective practice to real cases, participants explore the often implicit social-psychological barriers that limit constructive engagement in conflict. This collaborative approach allows professionals to reexamine habitual patterns, uncover fresh insights, and strengthen both their methods and their inner capacity as interveners. Past participants report profound benefits from the shared reflection process. They gain clarity on their role as interveners, realizing they can help parties explore sensitive, unspoken issues without needing to serve as psychotherapists. They develop deeper understanding of how invisible dynamics play out in conflict situations and become more capable and comfortable helping parties understand the underlying emotional aspects they struggle to express. The program provides a non-judgmental, dedicated safe space where professionals examine dilemmas and uncertainties alongside colleagues dealing with similar challenges, leading to improved decision-making and more effective interventions. Participants become part of the CoRP—Community of Reflective Practitioners—a global network where professionals support one another's development across geographic and cultural boundaries. The alignment between this program and NCDD's mission runs deep. Just as dialogue and deliberation practitioners work to create conditions where people can engage constructively across differences, conflict resolution professionals help parties move through impasse toward understanding. Both fields recognize that technical skills alone are insufficient—practitioners must continuously develop their capacity to recognize patterns, adapt their approaches, and respond to the human dimensions of challenging conversations. By the program's conclusion, participants will have developed lifelong tools that enable them to intervene with greater skill and effectiveness, along with receiving both the SRI® Instrument and the SRI® Certificate. The program welcomes conflict resolution professionals from around the globe, with session times designed to accommodate Pacific, Eastern, and London time zones. An early bird special offers a 20% discount for those who register and pay before November 30th, 2025, and colleagues who enroll together receive additional savings, reinforcing the program's collaborative spirit. For those dedicated to refining their craft, renewing their purpose, and contributing to more constructive approaches to conflict across our communities, this certificate program offers structure, intellectual richness, and supportive community.
