This survey is a key part of their "Path Forward" research project, designed to understand the current state and future direction of the pro-democracy movement. With the goal of gathering insights from democracy practitioners, the survey seeks to answer important questions about collective efforts, guiding principles, and areas of success or improvement. Seeking Critical Insights from Democracy Practitioners

The 2025 Survey of Pro-Democracy Practitioners & Organizations represents a crucial step in Bridge Alliance's ongoing "Path Forward" research project, which examines the state and trajectory of democracy-focused work in the United States.

"What's next for the pro-democracy community? We need your voice," states Kristina Becvar, who announced the survey on April 23, 2025. "Thousands of individuals and groups are working tirelessly to improve voting, bridge divides, reform institutions, build civic capacity, and ensure access to trusted information. Yet despite the breadth and depth of work being done, many fundamental questions remain."

The survey aims to address critical questions facing democracy practitioners:

• Are we truly acting as part of a larger collective?
• What principles or goals might unify and guide our work?
• Where are we succeeding—and where must we grow stronger together?

​Building on Field-Wide Research

​This initiative builds upon Bridge Alliance's earlier work, including "The Fulcrum" interview series by Scott Warren titled "Defining the Democracy Movement," which engaged diverse practitioners across the field. The organization has been actively networking with research projects and initiatives to understand how organizations are planning their futures.

All responses will remain confidential, with data shared only in aggregate form. Bridge Alliance plans to release findings as part of their Path Forward report in late May 2025.

Expanding Portfolio of Democracy Initiatives

The survey comes amid Bridge Alliance's growing portfolio of democracy-focused projects, including:

• The Fulcrum: A news platform providing nonpartisan coverage of democracy reform efforts
• Engaged Athlete Fellowship: Working with athletes to promote civic engagement
• News Ambassadors: Combating misinformation and promoting media literacy
• Healthy Democracy Project: Supporting inclusive democratic participation

These current initiatives build upon past successful projects like the Election Overtime Project, JEDI for Democracy, the Catalytic Leaders Initiative, and research studies on political perceptions.
