The National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation is now accepting applications for its Summer 2026 Intern Cohort, offering fully remote, flexible internship opportunities across six roles — Communications, Democracy Engagement, Digital Systems Infrastructure, Grant Writing, Membership Engagement, and Program Development — open to students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals regardless of current enrollment status. The cohort model prioritizes community, professional development, and hands-on experience in the dialogue and deliberation field, with training in facilitation, access to NCDD's staff and board, and the opportunity to contribute to real organizational work. Applications are due Monday, June 8, and require a PDF resume submitted through the NCDD Intern Cohort Application Form. This opportunity speaks directly to NCDD's mission of growing and sustaining a vibrant community of practice dedicated to dialogue, deliberation, and democratic engagement. The National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation is now accepting applications for its Summer 2026 Intern Cohort, offering a meaningful opportunity for students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals to contribute to the work of advancing dialogue, deliberation, and civic engagement nationwide. Open to anyone with a passion for this work — no current enrollment required — the cohort brings together a community of practice around six distinct roles: Communications, Democracy Engagement, Digital Systems Infrastructure, Grant Writing, Membership Engagement, and Program Development. All positions are fully remote, flexible in schedule, and designed to treat interns as genuine colleagues rather than task-fillers. While the internships are currently unpaid, NCDD is actively working to secure funding for stipends and prioritizes professional development, skill-building, and real-world experience in return for participants' time.
The Summer 2026 cohort runs approximately eight to ten weeks, with interns contributing between one and fifteen hours per week depending on availability and goals. A weekly cohort call creates a shared community of practice across roles, and interns work alongside NCDD staff, connect with board members, and in many cases have opportunities to engage with partner organizations across the dialogue and deliberation field. Training in facilitation practices and an introduction to the D&D field are built into the experience, and interns are encouraged to explore interests beyond their primary role. Past cohort members have gone on to build careers in public engagement, nonprofit work, and democracy practice — and many describe the cohort model itself as one of the most valuable aspects of the experience, offering connection and a sense of belonging in a field where practitioners can otherwise feel isolated. For anyone looking to deepen their connection to the dialogue and deliberation community, develop practical skills in communications, grant writing, civic engagement, or digital systems, and contribute to work that genuinely matters for democratic life, the NCDD Summer 2026 Intern Cohort is worth a close look. The application deadline is Monday, June 8, end of day. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the Intern FAQ and the full role descriptions before submitting. Applications are accepted through the NCDD Intern Cohort Application Form and require a PDF resume upload.
