Charles F. Kettering Foundation Announces 2025 Global Fellows Advancing Democracy

​The Charles F. Kettering Foundation has announced the selection of five esteemed professionals as 2025 Global Fellows. Hailing from diverse backgrounds and regions, these professionals have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to democracy, human rights, and the fight against authoritarianism. Through this one-year fellowship, they will engage in collaborative initiatives, share their expertise, and contribute to critical conversations on protecting democratic institutions.

The 2025 Charles F. Kettering Global Fellows are: 

• Koketso Moeti (South Africa): The founding executive director of amandla.mobi, an advocacy organization utilizing mobile technology to promote democracy and address injustices impacting low-income Black women.

• Chris Muriithi (Kenya): A journalist and LGBTQIA+ activist, founder of Bold Network Africa, which challenges stereotypes and promotes acceptance through storytelling.

• Flávia Pellegrino (Brazil): Executive director of Pacto pela Democracia, a coalition working to counter authoritarian threats and fortify democratic institutions in Brazil.

• Gábor Scheiring (Hungary): A political economist and former Hungarian Parliament member researching the effects of globalization on democracy and authoritarianism.

• Ivan Vejvoda (Serbia): A distinguished fellow and head of the Europe’s Futures project, with extensive experience in democratic transitions and foreign policy.

“These fellows are not only thinkers but also doers. They are courageous activists in the important work of defending democracy,” said Paloma Dallas, senior program officer for Democracy around the Globe. Their participation underscores the foundation’s mission to strengthen democracy through knowledge-sharing and global cooperation.

As part of the fellowship, these leaders will contribute to the foundation’s work through blogs, articles, webinars, and conferences. By bringing together diverse perspectives, the program aims to foster international dialogue, promote democratic resilience, and inspire action against rising authoritarianism.
