Bucknell University is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director for the Bucknell Initiative for Dialogue & Democracy (BIDD) to lead a new campus-wide effort promoting open, respectful, and informed civic discourse. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Research and Creative Inquiry, the Director will develop and implement programs that foster dialogue, collaboration, and community engagement across Bucknell’s three Colleges and with regional partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, a commitment to equity and inclusion, and at least seven years of relevant professional experience—preferably in higher education. Position Overview:
Bucknell University seeks an inaugural Director for the Bucknell Initiative for Dialogue & Democracy (BIDD)—a visionary leader to cultivate a culture of engaged dialogue, civic understanding, and democratic participation across the University and beyond. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Research and Creative Inquiry, the Director will guide this new initiative from its launch phase, fostering collaboration among faculty, students, staff, alumni, and community partners to advance open, respectful, and constructive discourse.

The Director will lead strategic planning, partnership development, fundraising, and program creation to position BIDD as a national model for dialogue-driven education. Ideal candidates will hold an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field, have at least seven years of progressively responsible professional experience, and demonstrate a deep commitment to inclusive excellence and community engagement.
