We are sharing an invitation to participate in a research study on hybrid public deliberation and dialogue processes, which combine in-person and online participants. The study seeks individuals who have organized, facilitated, or provided technology for at least four hybrid dialogues. Participants will be interviewed about their practices, technology, challenges, and the future of hybrid processes. Each interview will take around 45 minutes, and participants will receive a $50 Visa gift card. Participation is voluntary, confidential, and can be withdrawn at any time. For more details, visit the consent form link provided. Read more in the blog post below! Release: Invitation to Be Interviewed for a Research Study on Hybrid Deliberations and Dialogues
Greetings, Our research team seeks to interview individuals who have had experience organizing, facilitating, or providing technology for four or more hybrid online and in-person public dialogues or deliberations. The interviews are part of a research study. I’m a member of the research team that is conducting that study, which is about how hybrid in-person and online public deliberation and dialogue processes are conducted. By “public deliberation and dialogue processes,” we mean facilitated discussions among groups of ordinary people about issues affecting one or more local communities, states or provinces, regions, or nations. By “hybrid” processes, we mean public deliberations or dialogues that have both in-person and online participants who interact with each other at the same time. During the interview, participants would be asked questions about their practices and technology for organizing, facilitating, or providing technology for hybrid processes. Participants would also be asked about their organization’s goals, planning, training, and costs for hybrid processes. Further, participants would be asked about the challenges they’ve faced when conducting hybrid processes, and how they dealt with those challenges. In addition, participants would be asked which practices and technologies were effective for hybrid processes, what improvements they would make to practices and technologies for hybrid processes, and advice they would give others who want to conduct hybrid processes. Finally, participants would be asked what changes they envision for hybrid processes in the next few years. Each interview would take about 45 minutes. Each participant who participates in and completes an interview would receive a $50.00 Visa gift card. Participation in this research study is completely voluntary. All information collected will be kept confidential to the extent allowed by law and University policy. We will ensure that any information that we include in our report, or in any presentations or other publications about the research, does not identify any participant as the source. Participants do not have to answer any questions they don’t want to. Participants may stop answering the interview questions at any time. The consent form that explains the research is available at https://uark.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0SCs8gx4gn1i2rA . If you decide to participate in the research study, please click “I Agree” and enter your name in the space provided on the consent form. You’ll then be taken to a form on which you’ll be asked to describe hybrid processes that you have organized, facilitated, or provided technology for, and on which you can schedule the interview and provide the address to which you want the gift card to be sent. This study has been reviewed and approved by the University of Arkansas Institutional Review Board (IRB).
