NCDD’s Discussion Lists
NCDD’s email discussion lists are open to anyone whose work involves dialogue and deliberation — not just NCDD members. Our discussion lists foster networking, information-sharing and collaboration within the ever-growing dialogue and deliberation community.
First, thank you to L-Soft for their generous support! Since 2008, NCDD has benefited from the generous donation of mailing list services by L-Soft, a leading provider of email list management software, email marketing software and email list hosting services. NCDD has been relying on L-Soft’s LISTSERV® email list management software solution since 2006 and all our mailing lists are hosted by L-Soft free of charge.
Current NCDD Listservs
The NCDD Updates & Announcements List
NCDD’s monthly email update keeps over 30,000 people informed about opportunities and goings-on in the rapidly growing dialogue and deliberation community. Many people find our updates to be invaluable, and we promise not to send more than one message a month!
Subscribe here or send a blank email to NCDD-Updatesemail@example.com to subscribe yourself. Note: this is a one-way announcement list, not a discussion list.
The Main NCDD Discussion List
Our most active discussion list – NCDD Discussion – has 1,866 subscribers as of September 2016. It is a valued source of advice, inspiration, support, and food-for-thought for many in the field. Most but not all subscribers are members of NCDD. Learn more about the list at www.ncdd.org/discussion, and familiarize yourself with the list ground rules before jumping in.
Subscribe to the NCDD Discussion list by sending a blank email to NCDD-Discussionfirstname.lastname@example.org (or email email@example.com and ask Joy to add you). And if you’re already subscribed to the list, send your messages to the list via this email address: NCDD-Discussion@lists.ncdd.org.
NCDD’s Conference Updates list
If you want to be sure to stay updated on NCDD’s events, subscribe to the Conference Updates list by sending a blank email to NCDD-Conference-Updatesfirstname.lastname@example.org. This list is a one-way announcement service, not a discussion list.
The Making A Living List (D&D Jobs List)
If you are looking for work in dialogue & deliberation, we recommend you subscribe to this list. We now use this list to primarily share job openings we hear about in the field.
NCDD member Steve Pyser initiated this discussion list in 2006, and launched it with a conference call focused on such issues as setting pay standards and helping people professionalize the work they do. Archives for the Making A Living list can be accessed online.
Subscribe to the Making a Living in D&D list by sending a blank email to MAKING-A-LIVING-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST@lists.ncdd.org. Then once you’re subscribed, you can email email@example.com to send a message to the list.
The Transpartisan Listserv
Launched in March 2014 through a collaboration of NCDD, Mediators Foundation, and over a dozen co-founders who are leaders in political bridge building work, the Transpartisan List is meant to connect and inform those working in the transpartisan realm.
The purpose of this moderated listserv is to introduce potential colleagues to one another, to expand our knowledge of transpartisan theory and practice, and to showcase ongoing activity in the transpartisan field. Our goal is to provide a simple, safe communication channel where individuals and organizations that are active in this boundary-crossing work can connect and learn from each other. This list is not used for debating public policy issues.
More about the list, its co-founders, and the list ground rules can be found at www.ncdd.org/rc/item/8770. You can subscribe to the Transpartisan List by sending a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Then once you’re subscribed, you can send messages to everyone on the list by emailing email@example.com.
The Emerging Leaders List (Youth List)
The Emerging Leaders listserv was launched in Summer 2016, and is a discussion, networking, sharing, and collaboration space for NCDD members 35 and under and students who are involved or interested in the work of dialogue, deliberation, and public engagement. You can subscribe to the Emerging Leaders List by sending a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Then once you’re subscribed, you can send messages to everyone on the list by emailing email@example.com.
This listserv is a key part of NCDD’s Emerging Leaders Initiative – the youth and student engagement initiative that we have been building since 2014. It will serve as a valuable forum for younger NCDD members to network, share ideas and information, think together, seek advice, ask questions, and spark new collaborations with other young people who work in, study, or have an interest in D&D and public engagement.
NCDD will use this list to post info about job, internship, and scholarship opportunities in the field; share news and announcements about events and other happenings that are relevant for young D&D leaders; ask for input from young folks in the field; offer special deals on trainings and professional development; and more. We will also use this listserv to support a D&D mentoring program in the future.
The Race, Police, and Reconciliation Discussion List
The Race, Police, and Reconciliation discussion list was launched in November 2016 after participants in the NCDD 2016 conference identified the nexus of racial tensions, community-police relations, and truth-telling & reconciliation processes as an area that NCDD’s network should discuss more extensively. We hope will serve as a space where we can continue to share and discuss ideas, tools, projects, and resources about race dialogue, community-police dialogue, and truth-telling & reconciliation work.
You can subscribe to the Race, Police, & Reconciliation List by sending a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Then once you’re subscribed, you can send messages to everyone on the list by emailing email@example.com. We encourage anyone in our network who works on, studies, or has an interest in race relations, community-police relations in the face of violence, or broader truth-telling and reconciliation processes to join this listserv to network and share with others who work in these areas.
The Conversation Café Updates & Announcements List
NCDD became the official steward of the Conversation Café process (CC) during 2016, and so we’ve created a new one-way announcement list to share news about Conversation Café happenings once in a while (no more than monthly). We encourage everyone who uses with the CC process, plans to in the future, or just has an interest in the CC model to subscribe to this list by sending a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Conversation Café Discussion List
If you’re a Conversation Café host or promoter (or want to be), also consider joining the new Cafe-Community listserv – a discussion list we’ve modeled after the NCDD Discussion list to empower CC leaders to network, share information, and discuss key issues facing the Conversation Café community. To join this list, send a blank email to email@example.com. Then once you’re subscribed, you can send messages to everyone on the list by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Regional Listservs

We also use these lists to periodically share grant opportunities, job openings, facilitation opportunities, workshops, etc. specific to these regions.
